Create a Rhythm and Hold your Vision

create a rhythm and hold it to ground in behavioural changeIve been meditating this morning and you know what? I feel great, which begs the question as to why I have been so tawdry with it of late.

Do you ever do that? Start something and remain focussed and enjoy all the wonderful benefits it brings you, and then let it start to slide? Maybe you get busy and there are special deadlines to meet, or you lose your focus a bit.

This unhelpful wobble-like behaviour is a genuine pain in the ass, and its the 'white-anting' so many of us experience when what we are really wanting to do, is bed down that new positive or helpful behaviour, that is going to take us from where we are, to where we want or need to be in life.

So how to get around it? I think Johnny Cash has the answer; yeah, that's right, we've got to get a rhythm!

Rhythm is a strong, repeated pattern of movement or sound, it has a flow, and is a regular part of the normal pattern of daily life. 

Anthony Robbins says "If you want to achieve extraordinary results and fulfillment in life, you must begin at the center source of all your choices, decisions, feelings and experience — your focus". So your focus, or the vision that you have for yourself needs to be strong and true; strong enough to keep you excited about getting there. Here are a few tips to help you get excited and stay focussed;

  • Create a Vision Board
  • Decide on a special reward that you will give yourself when you achieve that goal or maintain your new behaviour for a set period of time; think about SMART goals here - make them Specific, Measured, Achievable, Realistic and Timed.
  • Visualise for a couple of minutes a day - really putting yourself in that place you want to be, feel it, see it - all with your imagination. By doing this you will tap into Coue's Law of Reversed Effect and help it happen Quicker, Easier, Faster.
